Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP) Job Description
Momentum, formerly UCPLA, is hiring a Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support disabled individuals with daily living needs in a group home residential and/or adult day program settings.
About the Role:
As a Caregiver/Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will focus on supporting people with their physical, emotional, and social needs. You will have the opportunity to build rewarding relationships with our clients and develop a fulfilling career in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care, including dressing, undressing, bathing, toileting, and overall hygiene
- Assist with meal preparation, meal clean-up, laundry, and other cleaning tasks
- Assist with moving in and out of beds, wheelchairs, and automobiles
- Provide direct support and other related duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or nursing staff
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet department and/or business needs
Adult Day Program Responsibilities:
- Assist people attending the program with program activities and community-based activities
- Assist people attending the program with communication, feeding, mobility, toileting, hygiene, and other activities of daily living
- Follow each person's Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals
- Document behavioral and daily living skills data of people supported accurately and in a timely manner
- Document individuals' activity participation and critical issues in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; highly preferred
- Experience working with developmentally disabled individuals; preferred
- Read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English well enough to perform essential duties and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Successfully pass all post-offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, TB screening, and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) pounds
