Momentum is hiring a Program Instructor to support individuals with daily living needs in a classroom setting. As a Program Instructor, you will be responsible for providing instruction to our people supported in computer technology, painting, gaming programs, and other activities; all while creating an environment where our people feel welcomed, invited, and supported in their personal and group exploration. Program Instructor Essential Duties :
Promotes a friendly, comfortable, and safe environmentRespects and promotes the right of individualsDevelops lesson plans for individuals consistent with Individual Service Plan (ISP) objectivesManages day-to-day classroom activities consistent with ISP objectivesTracks and encourages program attendanceEnsures that person(s) supported are clean and safe from harm or injuryAssists people attending the program with communication, feeding, mobility, toileting, hygiene, and other activities of daily livingDocuments and completes person(s) supported notes, ensuring they are accurate and consistent with individuals behaviorImplements quality behavior intervention plansAssists person(s) supported with community-based activities consistent with ISP objectivesFollows and implements company policiesAttends required in-service trainingsPerforms other duties as assigned to meet department and / or business needsProgram Instructor Qualifications :
Must be 18 years of age or olderHigh school diploma or GED (or substitute experience)At least one (1) year of experience in care and treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities; preferredHave working knowledge of computers and adaptive technology; preferredWebsite design and maintenance; preferredAbility to troubleshoot problems with computers, adaptive equipment, and softwareCPR and First-Aid certifiedRead, write, comprehend, and communicate in English well enough to perform essential duties and responsibilitiesAbility to maintain confidentialityCommunicate and work professionally and cooperatively with othersSuccessfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug screening, health screening, TB screening and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United StatesAbility to run, push, pull, bend, squat, kneel, and lift up to fifty (50) poundsValid and current proof of legal right to drive in California; preferredWith 40 programs and service sites spanning several counties, Momentum is the largest nonprofit provider of direct support for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities in Southern California.
