Quality Manager

Job Summary:

To support MMG mission to be the preferred supply chain partner to the North East Regions leading manufacturers providing quality parts, on time at the most competitive price. This position will value time from the customers’ perspective, change as opportunity arises, and provide information as a resource to MMG.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manages the Customer Return/Complaint process and ensures all appropriate containment, root cause, corrective actions and verification actions are taken and followed through to completion. Represents the voice of the customer on the Manufacturing Floor.
• Serves as the liaison between the company and customers for resolution of quality problems and overall goodwill.
• Reviews and analyses data of production, quality, and other appropriate operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications and/or operational or production problems.
• Plans and administers capability studies and GR&Rs as needed or required to determine initial and/or ongoing capability of processes for improvement.
• Plans and develops the Quality Assurance Technicians to support Manufacturing in such activities as, but not limited to; Receiving Inspection, In-process inspections, Final Inspection, Dock Audits, 1st Articles, In-process Audits, and Inspection methods. Develop improvement metrics for Quality Department.
• Plans and/or develop proper training for QA Technicians as needed. Interviews and selects applicants for the department in accordance with applicable laws. Responsible for ensuring timely input of information into the time and attendance system to assist Payroll in the preparation of the hourly payroll.
• Conducts annual performance reviews for employees in the department, completes the review form and makes recommendations for training, improvement plans, wage adjustments, promotions, demotions, terminations, layoff, etc. Ensures all discipline and personnel management issues are handled in accordance with company policy.
• Confers with other members of management, supervision, and general workforce to drive/implement standardized work in manufacturing and/or support processes with the intent of reducing internal and external nonconforming product or rework.
• Develops and follows Tactical/Strategic Plans as set forth by the company President.
• Develops budgets and cost control measures for the Quality Department.
• Must be knowledgeable in the effective use of Lean Six Sigma (LSS) tools and concepts to assist in process improvements as required. Serve as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement.
• Must be knowledgeable in ISO Standards and objectives to maintain and reinforce as needed.
• Must be knowledgeable in development of production process flows, control plans and PFMEAs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, and Skills

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business or related field OR the equivalent combination of education, functional training and experience required
• 3-5 years progressive experience in Quality or related areas including a minimum of 1-3 years supervisory experience required
• Experience with Metal Fabrication and Metal Machining preferred
• Computer literate. Microsoft Office proficiency required.
• Experience in how to train and develop employees
• Experience with the implementation of standards and procedures required to achieve and maintain industry quality certifications (i.e. ISO 9001, etc.)
• Knowledge of multiple problem-solving methods (i.e. Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control, PFMEAs, 5why, Fishbone, etc.)
• Knowledge of Blueprint drawings and GD&T as applicable
• Experience with external customer and supplier relationships required
• Good written and verbal communication skills preferred
• Ability to deliver presentations preferred
