Job Summary
The Food Preparation Worker plays a vital role in our kitchen, assisting in the preparation of meals and ensuring that food safety standards are met. This position is essential for maintaining a smooth operation within the dietary department, contributing to the overall food packing needed for the extended River trips and ideal experience for the guests. The ideal candidate will need to have critical thinking skills, efficiency, attention to detail and a commitment to food safety.

Duties

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
  • Follow recipes and portion control guidelines to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as knives, mixers, and other equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including proper storage of food items.
  • Adhere to food handling and safety regulations to prevent contamination and ensure high standards of hygiene.
  • Collaborate with the Food Manager and other kitchen staff to prepare meals for the trip dependent timeline.
  • Support the dietary aide team by assisting with special dietary needs as required.

Skills

  • Strong critical thinking skills with experience in food preparation techniques.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations within a kitchen environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using kitchen tools such as knives and other food preparation equipment.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Prior experience in a dietary department or catering service is a plus but not required.

This position is ideal for individuals looking to learn more of the outdoor tourism world without being on the water. Focused on contributing to a team-oriented environment delivering exceptional food service and also building relations with River guides and other professional team members.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
