Job Summary:
The International Operations Coordinator will perform a variety of logistics functions which are broad in nature. Coordinating traffic and logistics services required for the movement of cargo from domestic or worldwide locations. This position would manage the movement of freight internationally, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulatory bodies. This position reports directly to the International Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The International Operations Coordinator will perform a variety of logistics functions which are broad in nature. Coordinating traffic and logistics services required for the movement of cargo from domestic or worldwide locations. This position would manage the movement of freight internationally, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulatory bodies. This position reports directly to the International Operations Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for scheduling and coordinating both import and export shipments.
- Prepare all documentation needed for shipments.
- Ensures shipping compliance with U.S. and international regulations.
- Coordinates expediting and tracing activities with carriers, packers, and shipping agents.
- Works with vendors to obtain the best contracted pricing.
- Develops positive relationships with internal and external customers.
- Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions.
- Monitors carriers to confirm appointments, arrival, and delivery status.
- Coordinates special transportation for oversized shipments.
- Completes billing related to shipment file.
- Maintains shipment file records.
- Ensure customer profile information is entered and updated in system.
- Responds promptly and professionally to customer needs and service requests.
- All other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Self Starter with proactive nature.
- Strong computer, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and negotiation skills.
- Written and verbal proficiency in English.
- Accurate typing and data entry skills.
- Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word are essential.
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using units of US currency, weights, volume, and distance measurements.
- Read, analyze, and interpret complex regulations and procedures and respond to common inquiries or complaints.
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit and puts success of team above own interests.
- Analyzes complex problems and develops alternative solutions.
- Consistently at work and on time.
- Must be fluent in English (bilingual is preferred).
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Two or more years’ experience in international transportation/ logistics industry such as but not limited to ocean freight, air freight, container trucking, import clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
