IT Systems Engineer:
As the IT Systems Engineer you will play a pivotal role in provisioning, safeguarding, and maintaining system infrastructure. Working within an Agile environment, the person in this role will be responsible for maintaining IT infrastructure, troubleshooting system architecture, addressing defects and bugs, and implementing technical solutions. In addition, providing system security support by addressing system configuration and security vulnerabilities will be vital.
In ad-hoc situations, you will have the opportunity to develop data-driven solutions by leveraging front-end and back-end languages such as HTML, JavaScript, Java, and Python in support of operations and national security events. Your expertise will be critical in providing guidance for IT systems frameworks, ensuring best practice architecture design, IT solutions, and coordinating with subject matter experts to deliver outstanding IT solutions.
In this role, you will:
- Collaborate with system architectures and other IT specialists in developing and implementing IT solutions related to security controls, configuration of server settings, and network settings
- Provide expert guidance in system infrastructure design and implementation
- Provide server administration by upgrading OS software, software components to new versions, and utility software such as anti-virus applications using the FBI’s change management process
- Coordinate with FBI organizations to resolve major system issues, to include production outages or the degradation of critical system capabilities that affect core usage
- Ensure the implementation and maintenance of security controls in accordance with the Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and FBI policies
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for enterprise systems to include System Design Documents, System Concept of Operations, and System Operations & Maintenance Manuals, and Interface Control Documents
- Provide expertise in operating and managing Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud environments
- Security vulnerabilities are addressed as they are identified
- System configurations are updated to reflect new security requirements and policies
- Systems comply with FBI and Federal guidelines for security classification markings
- Provide further system security support by ensuring security features and controls are implemented, authentication and identity management, password management, privileged user access and management, and encryption usage
- Interface with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) and other FBI business units in addressing system risks and vulnerabilities
- Collaborate with the ISSO in providing documentation and test results in achieving Authority to Test (ATT) and Authority to Operate (ATO) approvals for new information system infrastructure
If you are right for this role, you have:
- Top Secret / SCI Security Clearance
- 2 years of experience operating and maintaining complex system architectures, applications, and frameworks
- Proven track record working with Windows IT systems and applications
- Proficient in implementing solutions regarding system security vulnerabilities
- AWS or Azure administrative cloud management regarding cloud security, cloud architecture and design, troubleshooting, and cloud deployment
- Troubleshooting system architecture defects and implementing solutions in a fast pace environment
- Programming and scripting experience with JavaScript, HTML, Python, etc
- Strong understanding of the DOJ Enterprise Architecture or DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) equivalent, with experience developing associated architecture artifacts
- Experience deploying architecture, defining requirements, conducting business process analysis, or similar disciplines
- Experience with data query using PostgreSQL
Preferred but not required:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
