Temporary Childcare Teacher (Maternity Leave Coverage)

Job Type: Temporary (6-8 months), with potential to become permanent

Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and adaptable Temporary Childcare Teacher to cover for a team member on maternity leave for approximately 6-8 months. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old and will be responsible for supporting and guiding children's development in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity for long-term employment, as there is potential for the role to transition into a permanent position at the end of the contract.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality care and education to children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old, ensuring their physical, emotional, and developmental needs are met.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, social interaction, creativity, and physical development.
• Foster a safe, engaging, and positive environment that encourages children’s growth, independence, and confidence.
• Observe, document, and track children's progress and development.
• Collaborate with other staff members to create a harmonious and supportive classroom environment.
• Maintain clear communication with parents and guardians regarding their child's progress and well-being.
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the classroom, including adhering to health and safety standards.
• Support the development of positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Adapt to the needs of the classroom and individual children, including working with diverse learning styles and abilities.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Minimum of 1 year experience working with children in an early childhood setting, ideally with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old.
• Strong knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and effectively manage classroom dynamics.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 35 per week

Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• No weekends
