Position Summary: The Supervising EMS Officer (Captain) provides first-line, field supervision to clinical field personnel. The Captain is responsible for assuring adequate resources; scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing, and planning the work of others. They maintain standards; coordinate activities; allocate personnel and resolve employee problems, including issuing initial discipline and selecting new employees. They review the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy, coach and mentor staff, ensures policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed, mitigates incidents at work, ensures employee injuries and health is maintained, and process employee paperwork. In addition to primary shift duties, the Captain shall have the primary responsibility for performance, evaluations, coaching and mentoring a segment of assigned staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution OR Obtain with three (3) years of hire.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- National Registry of EMT Certification (Paramedic).
- Current WV EMS Certification OR Obtain within three (3) months of hire.
- Credentialed EMS Officer OR Obtain within three (3) years of hire.
- Introduction to Rescue Awareness Course OR Obtain within six (6) months of hire.
- NIMS IS700, IS800, IS100, IS200.
- NIMS ICS 300 and ICS 400 (or ability to obtain in 6 months).
- HAZMAT Awareness.
- Three (3) years of experience as an EMS provider.
