Job Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Licensed Pharmacist and according to law, policy, and standard procedures dispenses and delivers medications and pharmaceutical supplies. Compounds sterile and non-sterile products as required. Fills orders, picks and delivers restocks for automated dispensing machines (ADMs); provides basic trouble shooting of ADMs; pre-packs both hazardous and non-hazardous medications; enters charges and credits into computer, makes rounds to deliver and return medications and IVs. Additional requirements include annual completion of required organization training programs as well as department specific education.
Responsibilities
Expertise
Demonstrates expertise in the technician role by staying abreast of departmental practices and policies, but consistently performing within the pharmacy practice act, and by displaying a consistent understanding of all required duties and the timeline for their completion. Demonstrates technical ability in managing the various pharmacy systems including the automatic dispensing machines, the pharmacy information system, the controlled substances safes, and the medications pre-packager. Maintains IV competency. Compounds sterile IV preparations per USP 797 and 800 guidelines. Follows all policies and procedures for sterile compounding.
Customer Service
Performs job duties in a manner to consistently improve the patient experience. Ensures that new bar-codes are added to the pharmacy information system in a timely manner to ensure efficient patient care. Ensures and adequate supply of medications are available in the pharmacy. Contributes to the efficient availability of the right medication at the right time for our patients. Ensures shortages and backorders are communicated to the Pharmacy Director. Demonstrates organizational skills and plans ahead. Exhibits effective problem-solving skills in dealing with customer needs.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Heavy Work: Lift 25 pounds manually frequently, >25 pounds lift with assistance and push 150 pounds on wheels.
Entry level to 2 years experience.
