BASIC FUNCTION

A Monarch Commercial Landscape Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing all duties assigned, such as cleanup, maintenance on lawns and gardens, loading materials and equipment, washing equipment, cleaning inner cabs, etc… The Landscape Maintenance Technician also handles shipments of new materials coming into the yard, unloading the trucks and placing the material in the correct spots in the yard or stacks it up out of the way to sort through and put away later.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

o This position takes direction from maintenance Foreman and is fully accountable to the Foreman.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

· High school education; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· A high school diploma or equivalent.

· Preferred: Minimum one (1) year experience as a Landscape Maintenance Technician of an equivalent service operation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Knowledge of the lawn and garden industry.

· Possesses a professional and positive attitude.

· Organized, motivated, detail oriented and is a self-starter in the face of a hectic and fast-paced team environment.

· Maintains composure under pressure in a constantly changing, fast paced environment.

· Possesses oral and written skills in English sufficient to deal with customers and fellow employees.

· Safely uses assigned equipment and tools and maintains accountability for both.

· Able and flexible to work variable schedules, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

· Ability to deal tactfully with team members.

· Effective time manager and possess the ability to multi-task.

· Able to maintain confidentiality about Monarch Commercial Landscape matters such as price and cost, company finances or any information about Monarch Commercial Landscape to competitors and customers that may be interpreted as unethical and which can result in immediate termination.

PHYSICAL

· The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· BODY POSITIONS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, push equipment and stand for long periods of time while completing other duties and responsibilities.

· BODY MOVEMENTS: The employee must have a full range of body movements including the use of his/her hands to finger, handle, and feel objects such as equipment, small and large items. The ability to bend the body, to reach for objects, and to crouch when needed are also required.

· BODY SENSES: The employee must have command of all five (5) senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

· STRENGTH: The employee must have the ability to lift up to seventy-five (75) lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

· The work for this position will be almost exclusively outside, the yard or within the shop. The yard is subject to all types of weather including heavy rain and below freezing temperatures with snow conditions.

· The noise level in the shop is typically low but can be higher in the yard.

· Must be able to work weekends, evenings and holidays as needed.

AUTHORITY

· The Landscape Maintenance Technician receives authority from the Foreman necessary to perform the job. Such authority includes:

o Authority to enforce the Monarch Commercial Landscape safety policies.

o The Landscape Maintenance Technician is authorized to take any reasonable action necessary to carry out the responsibilities assigned so long as such action does not deviate from established Monarch Commercial Landscape policy and is consistent with sound business judgment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Making it understood that the customer is the first priority and that each employee is here to support that priority.

· Enthusiastically greets and assists team members and assists them in their needs in the yard.

· Coordinates and communicates with management to pull, stage and load product(s) for team members.

· Assist team members in the loading of materials to their vehicles.

· Maintain correct quantity of materials, ensuring correct inventory records.

· Review incoming materials received for correct quantity and condition.

· Keep yard and warehouse free of debris.

· Maintain and operate company equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

· Participate in loading, unloading, stocking, cleaning of trucks and equipment and pulling of materials and equipment, as necessary.

· Inspect and report to Maintenance Manager, daily, all maintenance or safety related issues with equipment.

· Report all accidents in the yard immediately to the Foreman (even if minor).

· Covers exposed materials, when required, to prevent weather damage.

· Participate in cycle count processes, as directed by the Operations Manager.

· Advises the Foreman of low inventory levels and special products needed.

· Remains alert at all times for suspicious activity and brings to the attention of the Foreman any team member that needs closer supervision.

· Reports as scheduled, on time, every shift to support the high quality of performance as directed by the Foreman.

· Maintains a well-groomed, professional appearance appropriate for the position and situation in which the Landscape Maintenance Technician may be involved.

· Other duties and projects that may be assigned from time to time by the Foreman.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
