What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant/Referral Coordinator position at Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm?
Family Practice office looking for a full time medical assistant to be our referral coordinator. Primary responsibility will be referral coordinator but may be asked to cover for medical assistant position as needed. Referral coordinator responsibilities include submitting referral to appropriate insurance / medical group, informing patients of referral approvals and / or denials, and keeping a referral log that including tracking appointments. Referral coordinator will be primary contact for provider and patient regarding referrals. Medical assistant responsibilities include taking patient to room, obtaining and documenting vitals, chief complaint, patient history, and medication list. If needed, medical assistant will also take care of refill requests, relay messages from provider to patient, and call patients with test results.
