This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a candidate who will eventually be responsible for provisioning, installation / configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware, software, and related information technology (IT) infrastructure and services under the direction and supervision of the IT Manager. This includes the administration of : Windows and Linux servers and workstations as well as virtualized environments (VMware ESXi and vCenter); networking hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN systems; storage and backup infrastructure including SAN systems and Veeam Backup & Replication; VoIP and Asterix PBX systems; Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and Amazon AWS cloud services.
This position will also be responsible for tier 2 and, when needed, tier 1 support of end users in a mixed network environment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Computer Science or similar field. Degrees in other disciplines are acceptable in conjunction with appropriate experience.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with the concepts surrounding most or all of the following : virtualization, SANs and data backup, TCP / IP networking, relational databases, firewalls and network security, SMB / CIFS, DHCP and DNS.
Experience with Linux command line required.
Experience with specific technologies in use at Monell is a plus, particularly vCenter, Veeam, Active Directory, MySQL, Apache, Palo Alto and Barracuda firewalls, Nimble and Synology storage, Google Workspace and Microsoft 365.
General knowledge of programming and scripting is required, familiarity with bash, PHP, Python, and / or PowerShell is a plus.
Must be able to effectively analyze and troubleshoot reported user issues using all available resources.
The ideal candidate should be able to complete assigned projects independently, with supervision and guidance from the IT Manager, should enjoy problem solving and finding creative solutions to problems, and be open to regularly learning new skills and technologies.
The ability to communicate concisely and clearly with both technical and non-technical staff is required.
Experience supporting MacOS in an Active Directory network is a plus.
Work experience in an academic setting is a plus.
Schedule :
This is a hybrid position and is expected to be roughly 60% remote, with some flexibility in on-site hours.
