Position Overview:
The Computer Support Technician will provide comprehensive technology and network support for the BTES office at Cannon AFB. This includes maintaining hardware/software systems, supporting network architecture, ensuring information security, and delivering technical training to personnel. The role is integral to the success of the voluntary off-duty education program and requires adherence to federal, state, and military regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and troubleshoot Local Area Networks (LAN) and all associated systems.
- Perform updates and maintenance on the BTES website, ensuring compliance with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) directives.
- Recommend, implement, and maintain hardware and software solutions per USAF directives.
- Develop procedures to safeguard critical data and design backup methodologies.
- Assist in researching and purchasing IT components for system improvements.
- Migrate data securely between systems and provide database upgrades.
- Train office personnel on software applications for job efficiency.
- Monitor and ensure all equipment is fully operational, reporting issues promptly.
- Provide networking architecture recommendations and support.
- Address and resolve LAN and software issues.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 2-5 years in computer technical support, with professional references and relevant certifications.
- Education/Training: Knowledge of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and IT security protocols.
- Security Clearance: Must have a Secret security clearance (National Agency Check with Written Inquiries and Credit Check - ANACI).
- Skills:
- Proficient in maintaining IT systems, networks, and databases.
- Strong customer service and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to adhere to Department of Defense Instructions (DoDIs) and Air Force Instructions (AFIs).
Work Environment:
- Office-based at Cannon AFB, working a minimum of 15 hours per week (up to 40 hours).
- Work schedule aligns with BTES operational needs.
- Recognized federal holidays and Wing Family Days are non-working days.
