Your Role:
The Research and Development Food Scientist is expected to serve as a technical services consultant, developing and supporting the commercialization of new products from the conception stage through first production.
The qualified individual should have a strong knowledge of food science and product development and a good understanding of how ingredients interact with one another. Good attention to detail and organizational skills are necessary.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide technical advice to support the commercialization of new products.
- Make bench samples with new and existing formulations within customer parameters and capabilities of the plants.
- Support, plan, and lead plant trials of new products and first productions, managing and collaborating with customers regarding expectations and results and coordinating as necessary with internal team members.
- Oversee the shipping of bench, finished goods, and raw material samples internally and to customers as required.
- Ensure that active finished good production specification documents are created and updated.
- Manage the change controls of new raw materials.
- Provide educated information to the team as required.
- Support multiple plants as requested for varying needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Bachelors degree in Culinary Arts, Food Science, or a related field is required.
- Preferred Education: HACCP training is preferred.
- Preferred Experience: Five or more years of product development experience.

- Valid, current drivers license is required.
- Knowledge of food safety procedures and protocols.
- Technical knowledge of ingredient interactions and processing systems.
- Knowledge of the product development cycle.
- Ability to develop new products and troubleshoot existing items.

- Proficiency in using a variety of computer software.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work with precision.

- Must be 18 years or older.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time in front of a computer.
- Ability to stand and move about the laboratory for prolonged periods.
- Ability to perform physical activities, such as, but not limited to, lifting items of up to 40 lbs. unassisted, bending, standing, climbing or walking.
