This person will identify strategic M&A opportunities by keeping a close pulse on semiconductor and system industry, startups, and market dynamics. This role will play an integral part in charting the future direction of MPS through participation in landscape-defining transactions. Reporting to the VP of Strategic Development and working closely with the senior management team, this person will lead analysis and participate in all transaction phases, including sourcing, negotiation, structuring, due diligence, and integration. The successful candidate will work closely with groups in MPS to define and execute corporate strategic initiatives.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The total compensation range for this position in California is $165,000 - $205,000.

Responsibilities
- Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market research and analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and competitive landscapes within the semiconductor industry and related markets.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to develop and refine the company's corporate strategy, including evaluating potential growth areas, market positioning, and competitive differentiation.
- Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): Support all aspects of the M&A process, including target identification, financial analysis, due diligence, valuation, deal structuring, and negotiation. The position will work closely with MPS product lines to define, manage, and execute the company’s M&A strategy.
- Partnerships and Alliances: Identify and evaluate potential strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures to enhance the company's product offerings, market reach, and competitive advantage.
- Investment Analysis: Assess investment opportunities in emerging technologies, startups, and other strategic initiatives that align with the company's long-term growth objectives.
- Deal Analysis: Create robust operating models and investment memos to support investment thesis
- Presentations and Recommendations: Prepare comprehensive presentations, memos, and recommendations for senior management and the Board of Directors to support decision-making on strategic initiatives.
- Relationship Building: Represent MPS and develop relationships with potential target company executives and managers.
- Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math or related degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience in investment banking, corporate development, private equity, or management consulting, preferably within the semiconductor or technology industry.
- Strategic mindset with sound business judgment and exceptional analytical skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex concepts and recommendations to senior executives.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
- Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and G Suite
- Financial modeling skills and experience managing quantitative, complex analysis a plus.
