Job Description

We are seeking a Principal Quality Engineer to provide strategic leadership within our Business Units (Automotive/Industrial, Telecom, Standard Analog, DC/DC, Computing, Battery Management & Senor). This pivotal role blends technical excellence with leadership, driving quality initiatives and elevating our quality strategy. You will lead cross-functional teams and collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and global Quality Assurance groups to proactively tackle complex quality challenges and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction.

Major Responsibilities

Strategic Quality Leadership:

• Serve as the primary quality strategist for key automotive accounts, proactively managing customer quality requirements, inquiries, and issues.
• Mentor and guide quality teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and best practices across the organization.
  
  

Advanced Issue Resolution

• Lead comprehensive quality issue investigations and root cause analyses in collaboration with Failure Analysis (FA) teams and other cross-functional groups.
• Drive the creation and refinement of FA and 8D reports, ensuring robust, customer-facing communications.
  
  

Audit And Compliance Oversight

• Oversee and project-manage global customer audits, coordinating efforts between headquarters and our Chengdu facility to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Act as the key liaison during audits, representing MPS and ensuring seamless interaction with customers and subcontractors.
  
  

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal stakeholders to integrate quality strategies into broader business processes, resolving issues efficiently and effectively.
• Maintain strong communication channels with customers, internal teams, and leadership to address and escalate critical quality challenges as needed.
  
  

Experience

Basic Qualifications:

• 15 years in Semiconductor IC Engineering and Quality functions, with a robust background in customer-facing roles and strategic leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in the following areas: Customer Quality Engineering, Quality Management Systems, Automotive Quality, Reliability Engineering, Failure Analysis, Product Engineering, or Production Quality Control.
  
  

Technical Proficiency

• In-depth understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, IC testing methodologies, and the correlation between ATE tests and device performance.
• Strong knowledge of reliability processes, and advanced testing tools.
  
  

Methodologies And Soft Skills

• Proven hands-on experience with quality tools and methodologies, including statistical analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Exceptional leadership, negotiation, and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage sensitive information and guide teams through complex challenges.
  
  

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required; Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred.

Pay is based on market location and may vary based on factors including experience, skills, education and other job-related reasons. The base salary range for this position in California is $140,000 - $190,000.
