    Monona Grove School District has an opening for a part-time Educational Assistant - Bilingual Spanish at Monona Grove High School. Scheduled hours are approximately 8-10 hours per week. Position begins as soon as possible.

    Overview:
    The Monona Grove School District is seeking a qualified Educational Assistant - Bilingual Spanish at Monona Grove High School serving grades 9-12.

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Educational Assistant - Bilingual Spanish provides interpreting/translation and instructional support services to students who have limited English proficiency and works with students to bridge skills to help access the content independently. The position assists with language development and provides students with access to the core curriculum in primary language. The position utilizes students' first language to support and develop their learning and draw on their knowledge of students’ cultural background to activate their prior knowledge in relation to the subject or topic being taught.

    Responsibilities:
    • Work with students with a variety of language development needs to increase participation and access to the core curriculum and learning content.
    • Provides instructional support in Spanish to individuals or small groups of limited or non-English speaking students in a classroom
    • Assist in preparing or modifying instructional materials to assist with access and understanding.
    • Translate in writing or interpret orally as required.
    • Work collaboratively as part of an education team.
    • Data collection.
    • Attend work regularly.
    • Support for a diverse range of learners so that proportional representation of all learners in all classrooms can be maintained.
    • Communicate proactively and effectively with other teachers and administrators.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to provide a range of academic and social-emotional support to students in inclusive classroom settings.
    • Supervise students in a school settings
    • Work as part of an educational team.
    • Support proportional representation of all learners in all classrooms.
    • Communicate proactively and effectively with other teachers and administrators

    Qualifications:
    • Fluent in both English and Spanish
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Prior experience working with children preferred.
    • Prior experience working as an Educational Assistant preferred.
    • Associates degree or 48 credits at a higher education level preferred.
    • Technology skills
    • Certified or willing to be certified in First Aid/CPR.
    • Ability to contribute in a collaborative team environment.
    • Ability to connect with students.
    • Commitment to equity.
