Overview
The Special Education Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs within the classroom environment. This position involves working closely with special education teachers to facilitate individualized instruction and promote an inclusive learning atmosphere. Responsibilities
- Assist the special education teacher in implementing lesson plans tailored to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Provide support to students during classroom activities, ensuring they understand instructions and stay engaged.
- Help manage classroom behavior by implementing behavior management strategies and promoting positive interactions among students.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce literacy and math skills, adapting instruction as necessary.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and resources for lessons.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher regarding individual student performance and needs.
- Support students during transitions between activities and assist with daily living skills as required.
- Maintain a safe and organized classroom environment conducive to learning.
Skills
- Strong understanding of literacy education principles and practices.
- Experience working in a classroom setting, particularly with preschool or special education populations.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to support students effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families to promote student success.
- Familiarity with math concepts and instructional strategies for diverse learners.
- Experience educating children, particularly those with disabilities, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with students and colleagues.

Pay: $20.86 - $23.23 per hour
