We are seeking a highly qualified Park Superintendent to oversee the daily operations, security, and safety of our park facilities. The Park Superintendent is required to live on the property in the home provided by the Monongalia County Commission and Monongalia County Parks & Recreation. This residency is a critical component of the role to ensure the effective management and oversight of the park.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Parks Management, Wildlife, or a related field, OR
• Three years of work experience in park management, OR
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Interview Time Frame:
Interviews are expected to be conducted within three weeks of the application closing date. Application closing date is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10, 2025.

Role Overview:
The Park Superintendent is responsible for the overall management of park operations, including employee supervision, customer interactions, and maintaining park facilities, grounds, and equipment. As the on-site resident, the Park Superintendent provides 24/7 oversight and immediate response to park needs. Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and evaluating staff.
• Assisting with customer bookings and providing visitor information.
• Performing facility, grounds, and equipment maintenance.
• Collecting and processing revenues.
• Handling administrative duties.
• Coordinating special events and interpretive programming.
• Performing additional duties as assigned.

Responsibilities:

• Personnel Management: Ensure effective supervision through employee evaluations, time reporting oversight, training implementation, safety meetings, and adherence to department policies.
• Park Administration: Enforce park policies and procedures, inspect facilities and equipment, plan and execute park projects, coordinate volunteer activities, and maintain accurate records.
• Financial Accountability: Ensure compliance with fiscal policies, assist with budget planning, monitor expenditures, and provide cost estimates for park projects and purchases.

Customer Focus:
Primary customers include park visitors, pool guests, and facility renters.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a candidate who excels in high-pressure situations requiring prompt decision-making. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to provide outstanding customer service. Candidates must be willing to reside on-site in the provided home and pass a background check. A clean driving record is also required.
