Special Education Teaching Assistant (BIRD MORGAN) - for Extended School Year Programs

This is for an Extended School Year (ESY) program and is considered a BOCES ESY position.

LOCATION: Monroe One BOCES - 41 O’Connor Road, Fairport NY 14450; Bird Morgan

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: July 10, 2025 - August 20, 2025. For all BOCES Programs Pre and Post summer trainings and set-up as directed.

Mandatory Summer Set-Up Meetings

June 4th = O’Connor Academy, eStart, Transition/Employment, Creekside (BPA Unit TES Staff)

June 11th = Creekside (BUP Unit)

June 12th = Bird/Morgan

SALARY RANGE: $21.73 - $34.01 per hour or your 2025-26 rate in this title for current Monroe One Boces staff

Duties

• Assist classroom teacher in implementation of Individualized Education Plans for students exhibiting significant communication, learning and behavioral disabilities.
• Adapt and implement classroom lessons and activities under the supervision of the teacher.
• Implement Individual Behavior Plans.
• Collect data and provide input to the behavioral specialist and classroom team.
• Assist students with daily living skills (dressing, toileting etc.).
• Accompany students to and from all areas outside of the classroom.
• Assist students in communicating utilizing adaptive communication devices.
• Attend staffing, meetings and training before and after school.
• Other duties as determined by the classroom teacher or building administrator.
  
  

Qualifications

• College level work in education or related field.
• Experience working with students with intense behavioral/emotional disabilities and developmental disabilities preferred.
• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention or Strategies for Crisis Intervention and Prevention Training preferred.
• Experience utilizing applied Behavior Analysis Strategies preferred.
• Applicants must commit to working the full 30 day Extended School Year Program including a mandatory planning meeting.
• Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
