Position Title: Residential Building Inspector
Position Summary:
Responsible for enforcing all minimum standards for the protection of life, limb, health, property, and interior environment for the safety and welfare of the consumer. Analyzes blueprints and reviews construction documents including advising architects, designers, contractors, and owners on code requirements prior to permit release. Performs on-site physical inspections on residential buildings to ascertain compliance with applicable laws, codes, and engineering specifications to ensure minimum compliance of local, county, and state building codes.
Follows daily itinerary for plan review, inspections, complaints, and other assigned office needs. Completes inspection reports and maintains records of inspections. Enters data into various software systems used by the department. Ability to work alone, with limited supervision, and to communicate professionally in person, on the telephone, and via electronic mail systems. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Preference is for a candidate with a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Civil or Trades Engineering, Construction Management, or construction related field from an accredited college or university.
Minimum Requirement is a Construction Trades Vocational High School Diploma or experience and/or professional licensure in construction trades. Ability to obtain certifications in Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing inspection is a must.
Salary:
Full time position. Minimum starting salary $48,813, annually. Full pay transparency: based on years of relevant experience in the field.
