How to Become FL Certified in Social Science (Grades 6-12):

• Out-of-State Certification: If you hold an unexpired, out-of-state, professional educator certificate in this subject area, please apply for Florida reciprocity.

• Social Science Major: Commonly accepted bachelor's (or higher degree) majors for a Florida temporary educator certificate include: Social Science, Social Studies, American History, History, Western Civilization, World History, Geography, Economic Geography (and other specialized areas of geography), Economics, Civics, Government, International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, Educational Psychology (and other specialized areas of Psychology), Philosophy.

• Other Majors: For other degree majors, passing the FTCE Subject Area Exam in Social Science 6-12 is required. Visit the testing website http://www.fl.nesinc.com/tests.asp for further details.
