What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Strategist position at Monroe County?

We are hiring for a full-time Public Health Strategist. Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree in community health education, public health, epidemiology, environmental health, or another closely related field. One year of professional work experience working as a Community Health Educator in a health promotion or similar area is desired. Community Health Education Specialist (CHES), Certified in Public Health (CPH), or related certification and Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) are preferred. Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired may also be considered.
Our Public Health Strategist assists the Public Health Manager - Community Health to provide and manage health education and prevention programs that help individuals, families, and their communities maximize and maintain healthy lifestyles. This position is responsible for assessing community needs, planning, implementing, and evaluating health-related educational programs, providing coalition leadership, and communicating with a wide variety of individuals. Our Public Health Strategist advocates for strategies to address and improve upon the leading causes of illness, injury, and premature death in the community; and is responsible for implementing community and school-based classes and programming related to prevention, including mental health, physical activity, nutrition, tobacco use, and youth risky behaviors.
