What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pharmacy Technician position at Monroe Pharmacy?
Job Function:
We need a Pharmacy Technician in a busy pharmacy. We will pay you $15-20/hr depending on your experience. Provide technical assistance to the Pharmacist in all areas that a non-pharmacist can legally perform. Welcome customers and provide professional and courteous customer service. Process prescription with accuracy under the supervision of pharmacist. Perform customer transactions in a quick and efficient manner. Receive and answer phone call to assist customers. Execute other tasks required for daily routine business operation.
Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret physician's medication orders
- Aid in filling, processing, and dispensing medications
- Re-package and label medications
- Adhere to safety practices in order to ensure quality care for patients
- Help maintain the drug inventory through inventory control practices
- Provide customer service by answering phone calls in a prompt and courteous manner
- Triage requests and prioritize them
- Check for expiration dates on medications on a regular basis
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Current pharmacy technician registration/certification is a plus
- Basic mathematics skills including adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure
- Effective computer and keyboarding skills
- Working knowledge of pharmacy information systems
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral
- Strong prioritization skills and an ability to make decisions independently and effectively
- Able to operate equipment such as computers, scan guns, tablet counters, and cash registers
- Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
