- Promotes the enjoyment of reading, writing, mathematics, and science.
- Provides for the selection and scheduling of students for programs based on multiple sources of data and staff referrals.
- Develops appropriate goals and objectives for children receiving intervention.
- Prescribes instructional procedures and materials based upon the diagnosis of needs, including a student’s optimal learning mode.
- Works with children, one-to-one, or in small groups.
- Coordinates the differentiated intervention with the individual classroom teachers.
- Collaborates with other specialists to develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Discusses the progress of students with parents, faculty, and administrators.
- Participates in Data Team, SRBI, and PPT meetings, as appropriate.
- Participates on committees involved in the development and revision of curricula.
- Assists classroom and content area teachers with the implementation of appropriate goals, objectives, and instruction for both remedial and advanced students.
- Aids the Reading Consultant in the selection and ordering of materials, as well as organization of building resources.
- Collaborate with the building Reading Consultant, Elementary Math Coordinator, Elementary Science Coordinator, and Elementary ELA Coordinator.
- Engages in activities to develop self-worth and dignity of students.
- Recognizes and provides for individual differences among students.
- Works harmoniously with school personnel.
- Works cooperatively to help resolve problems within the school system.
