What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adult Education Career Navigator position at Monroe Public Schools?
- Career Exploration and Pathways: Help learners identify career goals, explore viable pathways, and align educational opportunities with labor market trends.
- Student Support and Mentorship: Provide coaching on executive functioning skills like time management, persistence, and goal setting to help learners achieve their career and educational objectives.
- Resource Navigation: Connect learners to necessary resources, such as childcare, financial aid, and transportation, to mitigate barriers to success.
- Job Readiness and Placement: Assist learners with resume preparation, job applications, and interview skills, while maintaining strong relationships with local employers.
- Program Collaboration: Work with the Persistence Liaison, Learning Bank Director, and community partners (e.g., MCCC and Michigan Works!) to support student enrollment, persistence, and successful transitions into employment or further education.
- Data and Progress Monitoring: Track student progress and use data to adjust support strategies and achieve program goals.
- Education and Experience: Hold a valid Michigan license in social work, counseling, or have equivalent professional experience in career development or adult education.
- Adult Learner Expertise: Demonstrated understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of adult learners, including balancing work, education, and personal commitments.
- Knowledge of Career Pathways: Familiarity with in-demand industries, local labor markets, and educational programs that lead to credentialing and career advancement.
- Coaching and Mentoring Skills: Ability to motivate and guide learners in overcoming barriers and achieving long-term career aspirations.
- Resource and Partnership Development: Experience in building and maintaining strong partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and employers.
- Program materials and resources will be provided by the district using Adult Education funds.
- The Career Navigator will report directly to the Learning Bank Director.

Monroe County Learning Bank is seeking a Career Navigator for its Adult Education/GED Preparation Program. This is a 12-month position offering a rate of $27.05 per hour for up to 36 hours per week. The schedule is flexible but must accommodate the needs of both day and evening students.
