Position Overview :
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for reviewing part drawings and setting up and operating 1 of 6 brake press machines. Entering in bend dimensions and bend deductions based on the different gages of sheet metal. A strong candidate will have good math skills having the ability to convert inches into decimals (for example : 3 ¼” = 3.25”) and having the ability to visualize a 3-dimensional part prior to bending a flat shape, similar to seeing a paper airplane in your head before folding the paper. Having experience operating a press brake is a plus. Overtime during busy months.
Essential Job Functions :
- Safety Sensitive position.
- Set up and operate machines such as brakes, rolls, sheers, saws, and presses.
- Read and interpret blueprints, part drawings and engineering specifications.
- Performing mathematical calculations.
- Learning the controller on the brake press and adjusting bend programs when needed.
- Lifting metal parts that could weigh as much as 50lbs.
- Make minor repairs and adjustments to machines and notifies supervisor when major service is required.
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned area and all safety standards.
- Support other departments as necessary.
- Perform additional assignments in accordance with the Shop Supervisor’s direction.
- Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.
