ROLE OVERVIEW
To lecture and lab for General Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Physics, and Anatomy and Physiology. To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi
- Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned.
- Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
- Evaluating the academic progress of students.
- Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook.
- Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required.
- Uses appropriate technological options for online technologies and course-related software, including Websites, e-mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students.
- Models effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning.
- Sets clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examinations dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories.
- Ensures that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives.
- Demonstrates consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams and provide timely feedback to students.
- Maintain records as required for student attendance, advising, and grading.
- Participate in campus and community events.
- Advice and/or work with student organizations as needed.
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
- Instructors for Biology and Microbiology should be able to work in Labs and do culture analysis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Candidates must possess Master’s Degree. Teaching experience in undergraduate teaching is preferred.
- Candidates wishing to apply for the general biology and microbiology instructor position must have experience working with bacteria and familiarity with culture, isolation, staining and characterization techniques at the undergraduate level.
- A successful candidate must be able to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and racial/ethnic backgrounds as well as diverse abilities/disabilities.

Pay: $60.00 - $90.00 per hour
