Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Food Services Manager or Assistant Food Services Manager, performs varied tasks in the operation and serving of foods; maintains food service equipment and facilities in a clean and sanitary condition; and performs related duties as assigned.
Read and understand English at a level necessary to accurately prepare and serve food; lift and carry moderately heavy containers of food; push and pull food carts; stand for prolonged periods; count, add, and subtract; understand and carry out written and oral instructions; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with those encountered during the course of work.
Basic cleaning and sanitation practices related to the cooking and serving of food; the proper methods for lifting heavy objects safely; the basic rule of safety when working around machinery and cleaning supplies; and interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.

Mixes, chops, washes, and assembles foods and ingredients; cuts and measures food into serving portions; measures and counts items and ingredients; places foods on steam tables; opens and processes canned goods; washes and prepares fruit and vegetables; prepares salads and sandwiches; assists with cooking and baking as required; serves food to students, faculty, and special groups as needed; counts milk and other beverages; stores food and equipment; keeps food storage and serving areas clean and sanitary; washes dishes, utensils, trays, pots and pans; cleans food containers, serving counters, and other kitchen equipment; operates dishwashers, mixers, and other kitchen equipment; may take money and make change; may assist with inventory of food and supplies, cross trains with Food Services Manager or Assistant Food Services Manager to insure the smooth operation of the kitchen in the event key personnel are absent.
OTHER TYPICAL DUTIES
May be required to wipe tables and maintain dining areas; may assist with record-keeping as required.
