What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scout position at Monrovia?
About the Role: We are seeking individuals who are detailed and enjoy being outdoors to join our Plant Health team. In this role you will be responsible for inspecting plants across 241 acres for insects, disease and other issues that may affect the health of the plants we grow. You will conduct research and will provide recommendations so that we continue to improve.
Employment Status: Employment is full-time,
Shift: Monday - Friday 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Some Saturday work required
Description:
The Scouting Craftsman walks through a portion of the plants on the nursery each month looking for pests. If pests are found a record of what was found as well as other necessary information is recorded on a tablet or sometimes a scouting form. The Scouting Craftsman works with the Scouting Coach to complete other department and nursery work, as necessary.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be involved in various responsibilities including, but not limited to the following:
Walks through assigned blocks of plants inspecting leaves, stems, and roots for pests or damage and collects samples, as necessary.
Reports pest finds daily to the Scouting Coach generally using a tablet or other means.
Releases biological control agents (BCAs) as needed.
May be assigned to flag pesticide applications or collect flags after end of reentry interval (REI).
Regularly contributes ideas for improved organization in work area and with the team.
Adheres to all workplace safety policies and reports or resolves unsafe conditions.
Collaborates with direct coach on other duties as assigned to meet departmental requirements.
Performs other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.

are able to work Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 4:00 pm and ½ day on Saturdays.
are able to maneuver around the office and nursery, can lift up to 35 pounds, and can perform repetitive moments like squatting, bending, reaching, pulling, and pushing, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
