What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equity & Access Grant Bilingual Instructional Assistant (Grant-Funded – Jan.-June, 2025) position at Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School?
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Provides academic and vocational assistance to students who have demonstrated limited English proficiency.
•Assists in providing access to the core curriculum by introducing and fostering the use of English learner strategies, reviewing instructional materials, and reinforcing instruction or follow-up on student understanding of specific vocational concepts.
•Assists students individually and in small groups within the classroom setting to help them master assignments, reinforce concepts, and develop skills presented by instructors.
•Communicates with students in English and a designated second language (Spanish) to facilitate the instructional process.
•Collaborates with instructors to define specific duties during daily instruction.
•Collaborates and promotes two-way communication between students, families, administration, faculty, and staff.
•Provides students identified with limited language proficiency, as needed, with translation technology and resources including audiovisual hardware and online support.
•Persists, at all times, in a professional, pleasant manner of respect for the student with limited English proficiency and in working with vocational and academic instructors.
•Enforces school-wide policies and rules governing students.
•Maintains confidentiality of information concerning students and parents.
•Translates communications, letters, and flyers for parents/guardians in designated language, as needed.
•Provide support to English Learners during the Extended Learning summer program during the two weeks following the academic year.
•Performs other tasks or duties assigned by the Director of Academic Programs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position may require long periods of standing and sitting. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This grant-funded position will run from February 10, 2025 until June 30, 2025. Compensation will be established by the Superintendent-Director in accordance with the support personnel salary schedule.
