Maintaining the natural beauty of Montalvo Arts Center's grounds requires a dedicated and skilled Horticulturist. We seek someone with experience working in large and varied landscapes, who can ensure the health and appearance of our outdoor spaces.
Responsibilities
- Manage weeding efforts in high-visibility areas, prioritizing the Italianate Garden rose and meadow areas, and the entrance at Hwy 9.
- Care for plants in containers and those within the landscape, ensuring they receive adequate water and nutrients.
- Inspect and maintain drip irrigation systems, addressing any issues promptly.
- Perform regular grooming tasks on fast-growing landscape plants.
- Support wedding events by deadheading roses in the Italianate Garden.
Additional Duties
- In the spring, determine the optimal start date for irrigation and investigate animal damage to irrigation zones.
- Flush and inspect drip irrigation lines in the Italianate Garden.
- Conduct thorough weeding and pruning operations in the spring, focusing on removing volunteer tree seedlings.
- Mulch weedy areas with wood chips as needed.
- Tend to the cactus garden by pruning and weeding overgrown plants.
