About Your Role

The Director of Business Development & Member Success is responsible for driving membership growth, ensuring high levels of member satisfaction, and developing strategic sales initiatives. This role requires a dynamic leader who can build and maintain strong relationships with independent pharmacy members, identify growth opportunities, and deliver value-added services. The Director will oversee sales operations, new member onboarding, member engagement, and support programs to enhance the overall success and satisfaction of members.


Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:

Sales Leadership and Growth:

  • Develop and execute sales strategies to drive membership growth and revenue.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the independent pharmacy sector.
  • Manage the sales pipeline, including lead generation, prospecting, and closing deals.

Member Services Management:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for members, addressing inquiries, concerns, and service requests promptly and professionally.
  • Design and implement programs to enhance member satisfaction and retention.
  • Regularly engage with members to understand their needs and identify opportunities to add value.

Relationship Building:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with independent pharmacy members, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Collaborate with vendors to negotiate favorable terms and pricing for members.

Operational Oversight:

  • Oversee day-to-day sales and member services operations and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Analyze sales and member service metrics to assess performance and identify improvement areas.
  • Manage CRM systems to track sales activities and member interactions.

Compliance and Best Practices:

  • Ensure department compliance with all relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Develop and implement best practices for sales and member service processes.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing sales and member services team.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment focused on achieving results.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The position supervises or manages the work of at least two full-time employees or the equivalent. The position includes decisions or recommendations regarding personnel actions such as hiring, disciplinary action, overtime, changes in pay, and terminations.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (MBA or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum of five years of experience in sales, business development, and account management, preferably within the pharmacy or healthcare industry.
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving customer satisfaction.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership experience in building and managing successful teams.
  • Proficiency in CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • Outstanding Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to travel as required to meet with members, vendors, and attend industry events.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or working with independent pharmacies.
  • Strong understanding of independent pharmacy operations, regulatory compliance, and industry trends.


Work Environment

This position is a remote, home-office-based role requiring a dedicated workspace free from distractions and equipped with reliable high-speed internet. The employee must be able to perform tasks efficiently in a virtual environment, utilizing digital tools for communication, collaboration, and task management.

While the role primarily involves independent work, regular virtual meetings and ongoing collaboration with team members, clients, and partners will be required. The employee must be comfortable with video conferencing, email, and other remote communication platforms. Travel may be necessary for team meetings, member and vendor meetings, industry conferences, training, or other business needs.

The work environment for this role emphasizes flexibility, self-motivation, and adaptability to changing priorities, ensuring productivity and effectiveness in a remote setting.


Physical Demands

This position primarily involves sedentary work in an office setting, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods while performing tasks at a computer workstation. The role includes frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone, as well as occasional handling of documents and office supplies.

The employee must be able to:

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Read and interpret information on screens, in print, or in digital formats.
  • Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

The typical workweek is Monday through Friday, with work operations scheduled between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM MT.
