Richey is a small school with rock solid community support. We pride ourselves on our academics and strive toward student success. We start our youth early and offer a school funded preschool program to our local 3 and 4 year old’s.
We have an extremely successful FFA program and have had several state officers. Our sports teams are in a co-op with Lambert Schools. We are the R&L Fusion, and we've seen  many of our teams advance to post season competition and have acquired several state trophies.
We have affordable school housing for classroom staff which includes 3 houses and 7 apartments. Utilities are included with staff housing.Â
Oil revenue has enabled us to generously offer district commitment and retention bonuses over the past several years. So long as we are able, it is the intent of the board to continue this.
The Richey area is rural, with agriculture being our main economic driver. Beef cattle and small grains are our main commodities, with peas and lentils, as well as canola and safflower also starting to become popular.
Our area is blessed with many varied outdoor opportunities. Hunting and fishing are very popular here, and we are not far from Fort Peck Dam and the Yellowstone and Missouri Rivers.
The community of Richey has 4 churches (Catholic, Christian and Missionary Alliance, Lutheran, and Methodist), a full service bank, a cafe, a hardware and grocery store with lumber yard, a grain elevator and fertilizer/chemical plant, a gas station with complete shop, as well as two bars.
Richey is at the far north edge of Dawson County. Glendive is our county seat and is about 45 miles away.
