Montana Opticom, Montana’s mega-bandwidth, fiber optic data, voice, and video provider is currently recruiting for an Accounting/Data Entry Clerk to meet growth in the telecommunications industry within Southwest Montana.
Job-Description
The primary role of our accounting/data entry clerk is to accurately input and maintain financial data into our accounting system by transferring information from source documents like invoices, receipts, and checks, ensuring the integrity of financial records through careful data entry and verification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-volume data entry of financial transactions, checks, invoices, purchase orders, and inventory reports.
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.
- Reconcile vendor statements and ensure timely payments.
- Ensure all job costs are being accurately applied to jobs within our accounting software.
- Prepare and post journal entries to the General Ledger.
- Maintain and update spreadsheets and accounting databases.
- Assist with customer and vendor billing.
- Prepare account reconciliations.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Serve as the customer liaison for billing questions and issues.
- Organize and file financial documents, invoices, and reports.
- Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to resolve invoice discrepancies.
- Identify risks and areas of improvement in internal processes and controls.
- Assist in preparing reports for management as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Associate’s degree in accounting or related field, or a minimum 2-3 years of experience in an accounting role will be considered. Telecommunications industry a plus.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping.
- Proficiency in data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience with enterprise or accounting software, iVUE a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills (spreadsheets, formulas, data organization).
- Ability to handle high volumes of repetitive tasks with efficiency.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
- Ability to work well with others.
Job Type: Full-time
