The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a Quality Improvement Coordinator at MMHNCC.

Job Overview:The Quality Improvement Coordinator assists and supports the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Manager (QAPI) program for the Montana Mental Health nursing Care Center. This position works with the QAPI Manager to plan, organize, and lead the staff and work process ensuring conformance to regulatory requirements, contractual obligations, and facility policy.

Responsibilities include:Providing quality activities for the entire facility; monitoring, implementing, evaluating and improving processes and programs that meet regulatory, accreditation, and standards of practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Behaviors):

Required for the first day of work:

  • Knowledgeable of nursing duties and care plan/treatment planning
  • Knowledge of basic tools of continuous improvement, system design, or Lean Six Sigma.
  • Knowledge of team development and facilitation techniques applied to quality improvement to achieve their highest potential.
  • Skilled in organization and planning, managing multiple demands, and achieving results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with particular emphasis on presentation skills.
  • Excellent conflict management and leadership skills.
  • Ability to identify problems and develop and implement solutions.
  • Ability to perform under minimal supervision with accountability for specific goals/objectives.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and general office equipment as necessary to complete duties and responsibilities including using spreadsheet, word processing, data base, e-mail, internet, and other computer programs.

Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Two years of job-related work experience preferred.
  • Experience in Process Improvement, Continuous Quality Improvement, or Lean Six Sigma preferred.
  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Physicaland Environmental Demands:This position is exposed to unconventional behaviors by residents with mental illness. The ability to engage and work with often volatile individuals and make critical decisions is required. May be exposed to blood borne pathogens. Walking, standing, and sitting for variable periods of time is required. May occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.


Salary: $27.50 - $27.50, Hourly
