What are the responsibilities and job description for the Deck Manager position at Montana Swim Academy?
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the COO, the Deck Manager is responsible for professional instruction and being the eyes of all of the pool area. As a member of the Montana Swim Academy team, the Deck Manger is responsible for the safety of participants inside and outside the pool area by enforcing policies and procedures courteously and professionally. This position requires skill in preventing accidents and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for all families.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Create a welcoming and nurturing environment for all swimmers.
2. Make sure that classes are running smoothly.
3. Responsible for the safety of all class participants at all times.
4. Understand and be able to discuss and promote all Montana Swim Academy programs. Inform families of Montana Swim Academy programs that will meet their changing needs and interests.
6. Respond to questions/concerns from families; effectively problem-solve, taking full responsibility to remedy the situation and follow through to completion.
7. Prevent accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules, regulations governing the conduct of persons using the swimming pool.
8. Respond immediately to all emergency situations using proper procedures and techniques.
9. Know the Emergency Action Plan, understand your specific role during an emergency and carry out your responsibilities during an emergency when necessary.
10. Taking attendance, scheduling makeups
11. Being the eyes and ears of the entire pool area.
12. Smiling and being professional at all times while on deck.
13. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
NECESSARY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification or ability to obtain.
- Proficient in swimming
- Loves to work with children
- Must be able to pass background check
- Must be able to be in the water for up to four hours.
- Lifting requirements of up to 50 pounds.
