Duties:
Effective teaching of carpentry and construction technology courses from basic to advanced, including construction industry safety, blueprint reading, construction estimating, framing, exterior finishing, interior finishing, and special projects/topics.
Shop/Lab and tool maintenance for a safe and conducive learning environment.
Management of external construction lag sites and service learning projects.
Recruitment and retention of prospective and current students for the construction technology/carpentry program.
Candidate must be an effective ambassador for the construction trades, Career and Technical Education (CTE), apprenticeship and workforce education in a highly academic university environment.
Required Qualifications:
- An appropriate Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3 years’ experience in residential and commercial construction sectors or
- An appropriate Associate’s degree and minimum 5 years’ experience in residential and commercial construction sectors or
- Achieved journeyman carpenter status through a registered apprenticeship and minimum 3 years’ experience as a journeyman carpenter in residential and commercial construction sectors or
- Be a journeyman carpenter who has 20 years of experience in the construction industry with experience in residential and commercial properties.
- OSHA 10
- Valid Montana Driver’s License
- Valid forklift or industrial truck certification or ability to attain this credential.
- Documented construction job site leadership position;
- Document classroom experience;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word;
- Proficiency in MOODLE (online learning management system) for course delivery.
- Ability to safely use all stationary tools and hand tools associated with the construction industry and carpentry profession;
- Ability to lift 50 pounds;
- Ability to perform all physical requirements common to the construction industry, i.e., work at heights, bend, stretch, lift, etc.;
- Job site, shop management, and organizational skills.
