Heavy Equipment Operator/ Laborer
We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator who is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of multiple pieces of construction equipment. The Heavy Equipment Operator is proficient in the use of a diverse range of construction equipment including, but not limited to Excavators, Loaders, Graders, Rollers, Dozers, Front-end Loader, Haul Truck and Skid Steers. Wage is proportional to qualifications and experience.
Position Responsibilities Include:
- Operate equipment cooperatively with team in fast paced environment.
- Capable of operating multiple pieces of construction equipment used in construction, base preparation, underground construction, and paving.
- Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, taking actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers or falling objects.
- Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginning work.
- Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, clean, lubricate, fuel, and refill the equipment’s fluids as necessary.
- Maneuver heavy equipment into loading and unloading positions, following signals from loading crew as needed; check that the vehicle position is correct and any special loading equipment is properly positioned, load and unload equipment and materials.
- Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing, sloping and banking, backfilling, paving, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating, and stockpiling.
- Operate equipment on public roadways, maintaining proper awareness of surroundings.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of equipment.
- Ensure company equipment, material, and the work site are maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.
- Promote, execute and adhere to MSHA, OSHA, company, and state rules and safety regulations.
- Participate as a vital team member, and contribute towards the success of the company, which may involve the provision of Skilled/General labor duties as project requires.
- Promote a team approach and maintain open communication with all employees to exchange information in a professional manner.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrate professionalism to properly represent company and services provided.
- Knowledge of Heavy Equipment Operation.
- Knowledge of road, underground, and building construction processes.
- Ability to monitor/assess performance of yourself, other individuals, and organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics.
- Have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, multi-task and set priorities effectively.
- Ability to work extended periods of time under all climate conditions.
- Time management, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair and maintenance.
Requirements:
- 2-5 years Equipment Operating experience required.
- Must be able to meet physical demands standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting 75 plus pounds.
- Must be able to pass background, pre-employment and periodic drug screening.
- Must be able to travel periodically.
- Must provide solid references.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation.
Wage is determined by experience.
