Job Summary:
Supervises the monitoring and maintenance activities of a landfill gas collection system as directed by the Director of Fuel Supply. Responsible for overseeing collection system optimization and troubleshooting activities to maximize quality and quantity of fuel to Montauk’s renewable natural gas plant, while adhering to site specific standard operating procedures set forth by host landfill. Strives to achieve high standards of safety and environmental integrity while maintaining maximum collection of landfill gas.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Manages the overall relationship with the site Environmental Manager for the achievement of operations and maintenance contract requirements
- Provides operations and maintenance technical reporting and updates
- Oversees the condensate and leachate management system operations and maintenance.
- Directs the tuning and balancing of the gas collection system wellheads in order to achieve performance standards
- Supervises the monitoring and collection of data for illustration of NSPS compliance
- Hire, lead, train, and mentor wellfield technicians and assigned personnel
- Provide support and consultation for the design and implementation of gas extraction wells and leachate collection systems
- Oversees and directs subcontractors in system expansions and modifications as required.
- Maintain site-specific management system documentation and procedures
- Direct the tuning and balancing effort in order to achieve NSPS and customer specific performance standards
- Oversee the Extraction Well Pumping System Maintenance and Operations
Minimum Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years' in a landfill gas or construction environment
- Knowledge of wellfield gas collection system installation techniques
- Ability to read CAD generated wellfield drawings
- Working knowledge of pumps, gauges, etc.
- Strong verbal, written, computer communication and organization skills
- Ability to interact positively and effectively in a team environment
- Valid Drivers' License issued by state of residence and in good standing
Skills Desired:
- Demonstrated mechanical and electrical knowledge and repair abilities
- Natural or landfill gas wellfield collection system construction experience
- Bachelors or Masters degree; technical training school
Physical Demands:
- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects less than 50 pounds on occasion.
- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements.
- Ability to use a variety of tools.
- Ability to walk over uneven terrain.
