Montclair Care Center is looking for a Director Of Nursing to join our team. Our facility is very family oriented. We are a small and caring facility located in Montclair, NJ. If you are looking for a good work enviorment, come and join us.  

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.        Ability to read, write and comprehend English; ability to follow oral and written instructions.

2.        Interest in the nursing needs of the elderly population and the chronically ill with the ability to work with both.

3.        Ability to work hours as scheduled and beyond based on the requirements of the position/assignment and facility needs.  On call as necessary.

4.        Registered Nurse licensed in the State of New Jersey.  Minimum of two years experience in rehabilitative or geriatric nursing in a supervisory role.

5.        CPR.

6.        Has background and understanding of Medicare guidelines.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment.  This position may result in your exposure to blood/body fluids.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.            Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required—bending, stooping, turning, stretching, reaching above the shoulders and occasional lifting is involved.

2.            Must be able to cope with the mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.

3.            Must be able to observe, listen and communicate effectively.

4.          Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents and their families, Physicians, personnel; support agencies, and outside agencies.

5.     Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly; emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility. Requires the ability to appropriately redirect and deescalate individuals with inappropriate behaviors.

6.            Must be able to transfer and pivot residents.

 

 

 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

 

1.        Direct the coordination of all nursing services.

2.        Acts as liaison between the Administrator and nursing services administration.

3.        Reviews State of New jersey inspection reports with the Administrator retrospectively to institute a plan of correction as required.  Monitors results.

4.        Assists Administrator with ongoing updating and review of nursing policies and procedures to assure continued quality of care.

5.        Ensure that the quality of care provided in the facility meets/exceeds standards.

 

OHER DUTIES:

 

1.               Maintains professional contacts within the local community.  Represents the facility to residents and their families.

2.               Cooperates with the Administrator in the overall planning of the facility's goals and objectives as requested.

3.               Assumes any appropriate responsibilities and duties of the Administrator in his/her absence.

4.               Ensures that nursing requirements for licensure and accreditation are maintained.

5.               Assures coordination of nursing services department's activities with those of other facility departments.

6.               Interviews, selects and appoints all nursing services personnel.  (Some positions are subject to approval by the Administrator).

7.               Interprets the facility's Nursing Policies and Procedures for department personnel.  Ensures implementation.

8.               Responsible for yearly written evaluations and for documenting disciplinary concerns for all nursing services administrative personnel.

9.               Makes regular rounds to assure optimal quality of care is provided.

10.           Responsible for overall coordination of incident reports including notification of appropriate State Departments as required.

11.           Reports to the Administrator any critical employee relations issues, complaints or unresolved grievances.

12.           Performs other duties and attends meetings as necessary and as directed by the Administrator.

13.           Communicates issues regarding resident care as appropriate to the Medical Director.

14.           Assumes independent responsibility for documenting disciplinary concerns for nursing assistants on designated shifts, including reprimands, oral and written warnings, and recommending the suspension or discharge of an employee.

1.            Presents a neat appearance with a pleasant speaking voice and personality.

2.            Works with a minimum of supervision.

3.            Discusses any problems, needs or concerns which arise with the Administrator.

4.            Attends in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as directed.

5.            Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and a positive image throughout the facility.

6.            Treats people with respect; works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values and mission statement; supports affirmative action and respects diversity.

7.            Understands and upholds Residents’ Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential.
