Job Description SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director of the Office of Student Belonging, the Associate Director, Office of Student Belonging is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of large-scale, campus-wide programs designed to further the center's mission of fostering student persistence, development, and degree attainment. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the design and delivery of a comprehensive and cohesive array of co-curricular student experience programs intended to build community, foster student learning and development, cultivate sense of belonging and school spirit, and facilitate retention and persistence. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate and make recommendations for contract renewals. Responsibilities include: evaluation and supervision of professional staff members, graduate and undergraduate student employees; annual budget management; and establishing and executing policies, procedures and risk-mitigation/management protocols associated with the office programs. Serve on the logistics committee for Red Hawk Day and other large-scale university student centered events. Co-manage, design and implement programming and assist with the orientation and acclimation process for the international student cohort. Assist with the operational management of the office. Assist with the annual operating budgets from multiple University and fee funded accounts/revenue centers in accordance with State of New Jersey and University procurement and finance policies. Interpret and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local law and University policies as appropriate, including but not limited to FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, Title V Americans With Disabilities Act, and the University’s Student Code of Conduct and Civility Code. Represent the Center on committees, cross-divisional initiatives and functions. Serve as second in command in the Director’s absence. Perform other duties as assigned. Management retains the right to add or change job duties at any time. QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in related field. Minimum five years of professional experience in college student development and/or planning/implementation of co-curricular experiential programs or large-scale conferences and events. Proven capacity to cultivate partnerships, collaborate and engage professional staff, faculty, students, parents/families, alumni, and other members of the campus community. Ability to foster student learning and campus community building within a diverse collegiate environment, and evidence of creativity and passion for the field. Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, written and oral communication and presentation skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment. Ability to work occasionally during the evenings, weekends and holidays. PREFERRED: Previous experience supervising full time professional staff within a diverse collegiate environment.
