CEEL was established in July 2023 after the reorganization of the former College of Education and Human Services. Education is at the heart of Montclair, whose institutional history is rooted as a normal school. One hundred and sixteen years later, CEEL carries the torch of Montclair's commitment to education, and is comprised of three academic departments and six community-serving centers that serve more than 600 undergraduate and over 1,000 graduate students. The Department of Teaching and Learning is committed to preparing educators to work toward equity and justice in various education settings and against the exploitation, exclusion, and marginalization of humans. We aim to do so by combining well-informed educational approaches and teaching strategies with critical examination of relevant sociopolitical contexts.
