POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Marketing and Communication, the Intern-Marketing & Communication will research West Milford area marketing opportunities and create marketing personas based on area demographics; identify relevant social media content and support the communications initiatives of the Association.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Work cooperatively with all staff, including attending select staff meetings to gain a better understanding of the Y's marketing and communications strategy
- Support the development of the Y's marketing campaigns through research and analysis
- Identify and research marketing and outreach channels in the West Milford area; deliver a complete report at the end of the internship
- Develop original, thoughtful social media content for the Y Association
- Travel to branches and events, as needed, to capture photos for Y's social media channels and lend support as needed
- Promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful environment that embraces the diversity of all staff and participants
- Understand the YMCA's core values and reflect them through writing
- Attend all required training
- Follow the personnel policies of the YMCA of Montclair and policies defined in the staff manual.
- All other duties, as assigned.
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with members, volunteers, staff, and participants.
- Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations and follow mandated abuse reporting procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma required. College credits are preferred.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Canva
- Familiarity with the capabilities of social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Strong writing, communication, and research skills
- Must be available from June 2, 2025- August 15, 2025.
- The ability to articulate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are essential.
- Must have a CPR/AED and First Aid Certification or get certified within 90 days of employment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
This work requires the following physical activities: climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, repetitive motions, talking, hearing, and visual acuity. He/she must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. The work is performed both indoors and outdoors and may require occasional travel to the various sites of the YMCA of Montclair.
