Monte Cassino School, a Catholic school for PreK-8th grade in Tulsa, OK, is seeking a part-time school nurse to begin working in August 2025. The role involves providing high-quality healthcare and promoting a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff. This position is a job-share with two other nurses, covering 16-24 hours per week during the academic year (August-May), from Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, and may require occasional attendance at special events outside of regular hours.
The nurse will work closely with school leadership, faculty/staff, and families to meet students' health needs and follow emergency protocols.
The part-time School Nurse:
- Collaborates positively with the additional part-time school nurse and the full-time lead school nurse.
- Provides direct care for students and staff in acute, chronic, and emergency medical situations.
- Administers daily medications and emergency medications as needed.
- Reviews and manages Care Plans for students with specific health conditions (e.g., food allergies, diabetes, asthma).
- Educates staff and faculty on managing student health concerns and administering emergency care when needed.
- Ensures first aid kits and emergency supplies are available and adequately maintained.
- Coordinates with parents, teachers, and administrators to address student health concerns.
- Collaborates with the school counselor and administration to follow up on student well-being and health-related concerns.
- Communicates with parents regarding student injuries, illnesses, or other medical issues.
- Serves as a liaison between the school and healthcare providers when necessary.
- Provides or coordinates faculty and staff CPR, AED, and first aid training.
- Maintains and monitors emergency supplies, EpiPens, and AEDs across campus.
- Assists with implementing Monte Cassinos Emergency Preparedness Plan and serves as a first responder during medical emergencies.
- Track and maintain clinic supplies and medication inventory.
- Maintain health records and confidential medical information for all students.
- Assist with administrative tasks to support the schools daily operations, such as recess duty, lunch duty, managing supply orders, and coordinating with substitute nurses when necessary.
The desired candidate has:
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) or Registered Nurse (RN)
- CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Previous experience in school nursing, pediatrics, or a related healthcare field is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with families, faculty, and staff.
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily an office setting with occasional campus-wide mobility to respond to emergencies and in the performance of assigned duties.
- Requires moderate physical effort during emergencies but otherwise minimal physical exertion.
