Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government.
MSRC is seeking a Composite Technician to support the Material Science and Engineering Division of Propulsion and Structures Technology. This position is located in Huntsville, AL at Redstone, Arsenal.
Responsibilities:
- Interface directly with customer and read engineering drawings to produce unique precision parts to contribute to a variety of projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment with little or no assistance.
- Program and set up Automated Fiber Placement machines for winding composite parts
- Hand layup of composite panels and laminates
- Develop and write Standarized Operating Procedures (SOP) for equipment
- Operation of Autoclave
Education:
- High School diploma along with a degree in related to composite layup and/or credentials/experience verifying formal training in composite layup.
Qualifications:
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance is required.
- 20 years of experience with composite layup.
- Experience writing SOP documents for government operations.
- Knowledge of safety and RCRA requirements for government operations
- Prior experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Prior experience in programing, setup, operation and maintenance of a variety of machines including Ovens, Gerber tables and AFP machines.
- Experience manufacturing parts using hand layup techniques with existing mandrils
- Experience operating and maintaining Autoclave for curing parts
- Experience and knowledge of safely using and weighing up chemicals
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Occasional travel (10%) to support integration and testing events may be required.
Preferred:
- Experience with and knowledge of ongoing missile development hardware.
- Experience with large composite layups and laminates.
Additional Requirements:
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate must currently possess and be able to maintain an active security clearance.
