Monte Sano Research Corporation (MSRC) is a Huntsville-based Small Business specializing in providing full-spectrum defense system engineering, research, design, development, integration, test, evaluation, and planning services to the U.S. Government.
MSRC is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join a diverse team to create unique solutions for complex problems.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Mechanical Designer will contribute expertise in developing engineering drawings and 3d models for various DOD applications.
In this role, the Mechanical Designer will collaborate closely with a team of designers and engineers, ensuring that mechanical designs align with customer specifications and are optimized for manufacturability.
Basic Qualifications:
- Develop and refine fabrication drawings for components and systems using advanced CAD tools, such as SolidWorks, while adhering to project budget and timelines.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of ASME standards, including the basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), to create and review Shop and Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.
- Support Configuration Management practices, helping to manage and improve project documentation and baseline designs for consistent quality.
- Candidate must be able to communicate and work well with a multi-disciplined team.
- The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area.
Education and Experience:
- 4-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design and modeling within defense or aerospace sectors.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software, specifically SolidWorks, with experience in integrating multiple vendor components into cohesive design models.
- Experience with Configuration Management tools like SolidWorks PDM and a solid understanding of industry standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5, AWS D1.1).
- Familiarity with engineering codes and standards such as ASME BPVC, AISC 360-10, and ASME Y14.100.
Additional Requirements:
- Active Secret DoD Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance.
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
