Description
The Boarding Dorm Manager plays a vital role in fostering a safe, structured, and supportive living environment for boarding students. This live-in position ensures the well-being of students by overseeing dorm life, coordinating schedules, and managing logistical needs such as transportation and extracurricular involvement. The DM will actively engage with students, mentor them in personal and academic growth, and support their participation in school activities while maintaining a well-organized dormitory environment.
Student Supervision & Mentorship
- Provide direct supervision and support to students during evenings, weekends, and non-school hours.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive dorm environment through mentorship, conflict resolution, and community-building activities.
- Assist students in balancing academic, extracurricular, and personal responsibilities.
- Oversee behavioral expectations and address conflicts appropriately.
- Support students’ emotional and personal development by building trust and encouraging leadership skills.
- Being present for long breaks as needed when students are staying in the U.S.
Administrative & Logistical Coordination
- Coordinate student schedules, ensuring dorm residents can participate in sports, extracurricular activities, and school events.
- Oversee transportation logistics for activities, medical appointments, and weekend outings, communicating with drivers and school staff as needed.
- Maintain student attendance records and report any concerns to the appropriate school administrators.
- Communicate regularly with coaches, teachers, and extracurricular leaders to keep track of student commitments.
- Monitor and address dormitory maintenance issues, coordinating with administration for timely resolution.
Student Engagement & Activities
- Organize and oversee dormitory events, weekend outings, and cultural celebrations to enhance student life.
- Plan activities that align with the school calendar and promote student engagement.
- Guide and mentor student leaders in organizing peer-led dormitory initiatives.
Communication & Parent Engagement
- Serve as the primary contact for a designated group of boarding students, ensuring consistent communication with families.
- Provide parents with regular updates on student progress, participation in activities, and any concerns.
- Collaborate with the Director of Boarding and Assistant Directors to ensure seamless student care and supervision.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with high school students in a residential setting (boarding school, camp, or similar).
- Strong organizational skills to manage student schedules, transportation, and activities.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor students and collaborate with staff.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and be on call for emergencies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to safely lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to operate relevant office equipment.
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, and/or squat for prolonged periods of time.
- Work outside occasionally, over multiple terrains, and in varying weather conditions, as needed.

At Will Employment:Employee understands and acknowledges that, unless otherwise defined by applicable law, any employment relationship with MVC is of an “at will” nature, which means that the Employee may resign at any time and the Employer may discharge the Employee at any time, with or without cause. It is further understood that this “at will” employment relationship may not be changed by any written document or by conduct, unless the MVC Head of School specifically acknowledges such change in writing.
Salary : $50,000 - $70,000
