About the Role
Montecito Bank & Trust is seeking a full-time Senior Loan Process Specialist to join the team in our Commercial Lending Group. As a Senior Loan Process Specialist, you will deliver a World Class Experience by supporting the Commercial Lending Group staff, as applicable, in matters related to lending activities for all loans at the individual, commercial, and transaction level. This position will interface with the Commercial Bankers and Portfolio Managers assisting with admin and research requested for clients and may assist the Supervisor or Commercial Lending Manager with generation of reports for bi-monthly department meetings. The Senior Loan Process Specialist will be involved throughout the loan underwriting process and will assume all required duties related to gathering information, facts, loan histories, relationship data, and providing same to Portfolio Managers and Commercial Bankers. Candidate will be responsible for facilitating the processing of loan approval, showing a high degree of competence in translating loan approval documents into complete, system-compliant information for documentation preparation and boarding. The Senior Loan Process Specialist will provide operational support to the lending team as required. The Senior Loan Process Specialist may also be responsible for the training and mentoring the other Loan Process Specialists on the preparation of document requests and other loan processing functions. You will be located in Goleta, CA with a fully on-site work schedule.
What We’re Looking For
- Associate’s degree, high school diploma, or equivalent required.
- Five to eight years of banking experience, or similar or related experience, required including at least three or more years of commercial and/or residential loan processing or equivalent work preferred.
- Two-year college degree or completion of specialized course preferred.
- Basic accounting, bank operations or experience with journal entries required.
- Strong critical thinking, decision-making, and customer service skills.
- Ability to provide oversight, leadership, guidance and teaching to any less senior Loan Support Specialists and/or other personnel.
Your Responsibilities
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Arranges for smooth loan coordination of ongoing advances/repayments, documentation associated with maintenance of internal loan system.
- Supports the processing of construction loan disbursements or other advances and payments.
- Processes approved moderate to complex Credit Memos and translate them into the Lending Origination System and forward on to documentation and boarding. Accurate preparation of documentation request, funding worksheets and other required forms.
- Keeps strong communication with title, escrow and other third parties throughout the loan closing process.
- Assumes responsibility for verification of all loan information and maintain the integrity of the loan file by ensuring all information provided is completed and accurate prior to funding and boarding.
- Assists in the loan underwriting support process including data/information gathering, file sourcing, file management, relationship information/loan history gathering.
- Provides administrative support such as responding to phone inquiries, monitoring incoming office mail, and other office management tasks
