RN ICU

Join our Nursing staff and make a difference at a great community based hospital, Montefiore Mount Vernon. The hospital is part of Montefiore Health System, a premier academic health system serving more than 3 million people living in the New York City and Hudson Valley region. We have a fantastic opportunity for an ICU nurse, night shift to join our team in our recently renovated ICU department.

Job Duties include:

• Provides for safety in the coordination and delivery of care.
• Consistently communicates with patients by listening attentively and providing feedback to ensure that all needs are met in a timely manner.
• Keeps patients pain well controlled.
• Assess and reassesses patients' status, initiating and resolving patient goals.
• Treating patients accurately and safely according to unit specific parameters and best practices.
• Provides for patient confidentiality, privacy and dignity.
• Performs hourly rounds.
• Answers call lights or requests from patients in a timely and courteous manner.
• Utilizes hand-off communication in all interdisciplinary reporting.
• Responds appropriately in emergency situations.
• Is aware of ethical concerns and makes appropriate referrals to ethics committee.
• Identifies and immediately reports any hazardous situations to management.
• Actively participates to improve and maintain patient satisfaction scores.
• Participates in and positively influences quality improvement initiatives.
• Fosters cooperative relationships and positive work environment with other departments through courtesy, respect and effective communication.
• Responds in a professional and timely manner to requests for information from co-workers.
• Participates in patient flow initiatives by facilitating transfers and discharges in a timely manner.
• Strives to exceed expectations of all patients and families.

Education and Requirements:

• 1-3 yrs of prior experience as an ICU Nurse with critical care experience.
• New York State Nursing License.
• BLS and ACLS
• Associate's degree required.
• BSN degree preferred.
• Infection control training certification in specialty preferred
• Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to use basic data entry and retrieval systems
